7th week Teaching practice- Phase 1

As we were notified from our college that our teaching practice was on the last lap and we have to return to our college due to the commencement of 3rd Semester examination, our 7th and last week of teaching practice in Pallithura Higher Secondary School was from 20th February to 24th  February.  During this week, I conducted an Achievement test in 9th B on 21st February based on the two chapters (Biology of movement,  Division for growth and reproduction). On 23rd February, we trainees celebrated National Science Day by conducting a school level Quiz Competition.  On 23rd February, I conducted a Diagnostic test for 9th B to identify the difficult portions and students problems related to the chapters. This was followed by Remedial teaching on 24th February based on the diagnostic test.  As 24rd February was the last day of Teaching Practice, school teachers and staffs gave as a small farewell. 

National Science Day

 On 23rd February, National Science Day was celebrated in our school. As this was our last week in the school, we were given instructions from the college to conduct a Science based Quiz competition in the school. Students who were qualified from the school level would be brought to our college for the next level of the competition. Students participated in this and increased their knowledge about science.

5th & 6th week Teaching practice- Phase 1

On the 5th week of teaching practice from 6th Feb to 10th Feb, I had 8th C, 8th B and 9th B classes. In 8th C I completed  the chapter Diversity for Sustenance.  On 6th February, World Cancer Day was celebrated and I and Sonia took an awareness class on Cancer and made students to participate in a small poster making competition in 9th D.  On 10th February, World Pulses Day was celebrated. On this occasion, we gave gave a small talk and importance of different pulses. Teaching practice moved towards the 6th week from 13th February to 17th February. During this week I had classes in 8th B,  8th C and 9th B.  In 8th C and 9th B classes the portions were completed so I moved on with revision and class tests for the exam preparations. On 13th February, our college trainees conducted a conscientisation programme for 8th B and 8th C on Career Guidance. Subject Associated Activities

 On 13th February, natural science team conducted a small talk and presentation on Darwin Day which was actually on 12th February.  We introduced students about Darwin, his contributions in Evolution, Darwin's finches and so on. On 14th February, in accordance with International Day of Women and Girls in Science,  natural science students introduced some famous female personalities to students. This encouraged students to think out of the box and aim big and contribute something to science.   

Conscientization Programme

 On 13th February, our college trainees decided to conscientise students on Career Options they have and they are not aware about. For that a Conscientization programme was conducted for 8th B and 8th C on the topic Career Guidance.  The session was carried on by different teacher trainees. At the beginning a small introduction on Career and Goals were presented. Later on each subjects like Science, Arts, Commerce, Medical, Engineering and Technology fields and their different courses and popular institutions were introduced. Later on students came to know about different exams and higher education opportunities in other countries. Students were encouraged to think about their future and start their planning for it. 

World Pulses Day- Subject Associated Activity

 On 10th February,  natural science group celebrated world pulses day by giving students a small talk, awareness about the importance of pulses, showed PPT and video regarding the same.

World Cancer Day- Subject Associated Activity

 On 6th February, natural science group celebrated World Cancer Day by conducting an awareness class and poster making competition. Students enthusiastically took part and responded to questions they were asked. The session dealed with What is Cancer, types, reasons for cancer, how can it be treated and so on.

3rd & 4th week teaching practice- Phase 1

Our 3rd week of teaching practice started from 23rd Jan, 2023 to 27th Jan, 2023. During this week i took classes in 8th and 9th. 8th B- " For the continuity of generations" 8th C- " Diversity for Sustenance" 9th B- " The Biology of movement" On 26th Jan, 2023, Republic Day was celebrated in the school. Programme started by 8:30 am when the chief guest arrived and hoisted the flag. Patriotic songs were sung, and speech on Republic day was delivered by a student and a teacher trainee. Sweets were distributed at the end of the programme. We conducted a quiz competition based on Indian Republic and Constitution. Students participated and winners were rewarded. On 27th Jan, 2023, School Annual Day was celebrated. The programme started by 4:30pm. The chief guest for the programme was Kadakampally Surendran, Member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. World Wetlands Day- subject associated activity

 On 2nd February, we had conducted a subject associated activity in standard 9th. As 2nd February was associated with World Wetlands Day, we presented an awareness about the importance of protecting Wetlands and conserving it. Students showed their eagerness to know about this day and enthusiastically took part in the poster competition based on it. After the competition, prize was distributed to the winner.
