SIAMO- Day 2

On the second day of the camp (28th March), we started our journey by bus from St. Jacob's Training College, Menamkulam to S.B Community Hall, Poovar. The Parish Priest Rev. Fr Aneesh Fernandez gave us a very warm welcome. Father gave us a brief introduction about the History of Poovar, its culture and the Communities under St. Bartholomew Church. They have almost 2000 families which are further divided into 11 wards and 4 units each.

He enlightened us with his words "Teaching is the art of touching hearts continuously ". Next was a class taken by Mr. Sankar. He educated us about life as a Cooperate person and the life as a teacher.

We were given instructions regarding the conduction of the baseline and health survey. We went for our 1st day survey by 2:00 pm. All the teacher trainees divided into pair or group of 3 and interacted with different family members with the locality. I was accompanied by Sr. Neethu and Adithyan. We covered Unit 11 which consisted of 22 families. As the survey was more about health, we could find out that the people of coastal area had not much facilities for proper health maintenance. By 6:00 pm we returned back to our Hall.

After dinner, we had a small session by Rev. Fr. Devasi, where he told us about commandments to be followed as a teacher. After the session we had a small discussion about the next day's programmes.
